May is a wonderful month to go to Cape Cod. There is NO traffic! Dayna and Mark chose May 20th for their wedding and they ended up with a gorgeous day. It was sunny and 72 degrees, perfect weather for an outside receiving line after the ceremony.
This was a destination wedding, as many Cape weddings are, and a lot of planning was needed to coordinate transporting the guests from the hotel to the church and then to the reception site. They hired buses which was a great idea for those who didn’t know the area. It also cut down on the number of vehicles at the church. (Musicians always arrive early so parking is rarely an issue for us.)
Dayna and Mark chose “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” for the bridal party and” Canon in D” for the bride’s entrance. “Arioso” was played during the family candle lighting and Bach “Air” during the unity candle lighting. “Alla Hornpipe” from The Water Music was the recessional. We continued to play other upbeat pieces while the guests exited the church.
Holy Redeemer has a wedding coordinator who helps with seating, cues and entrances. I can’t stress enough the importance of having someone do this job. If your church doesn’t have a coordinator, then either hire a “day of coordinator” or assign these duties to a trusted friend.
