August 1st turned out to be a perfect evening for a 50th wedding anniversary party.
It was warm with clear skies. The event was held in the host’s backyard with the dining area set up under a tent, allowing a very smart “Plan B” in case of rain. We played a mix of classical, tangos and old jazz standards. Although we were just a duo (violin and cello), we were able to accommodate all of their choices. The cello has a more active part to play since there isn’t a middle voiced instrument that you’d hear in a trio. I wrote arrangements specifically for the duo and everyone’s been happy with them. I’m going to continue arranging more pieces for the duo.
