We are so lucky to play for weddings at The Wequassett Resort in Harwich. Laruen and Kevin chose this venue for their late April wedding. I never get tired of the spectacular view that serves as the backdrop for outdoor events.
It was a cool but sunny day which allowed us to be on the lawn. Of course, the recently rebuilt terrace is always a great “Plan B” in case it’s cold or raining. It’s a much larger space for guests to enjoy and offers the same fabulous view as the lawn.
The bride and groom have Irish roots so asked us to play some Irish tunes during both the prelude and cocktail hour. We have a book full of these fun songs and always have a good time playing them. Family member Robert served as officiant, making it a very personal ceremony.
Processionals were “Canon in D” for the bridal party and Vangelis “Hymne” for the bride. We played “Arioso” for the unity sand mixing that was included in the ceremony. (We have several good pieces that can be shortened to fit a unity candle lighting, water or sand mixing.)
“La Rejouissance” was the recessional. Cocktail music included more Irish tunes plus Beatles’ songs, Van Morrisson, “Field, of Dreams Theme.” We played “Falling” from the movie and show “Once” as a special request from the bride and groom after they finished taking photos.
