King’s Chapel Wedding

Historic King’s Chapel was the setting for Judy and Paul’s September wedding. It was the second marriage for both and the attendants were their adult children. Reverend Dianne Arakawa presided over this very special ceremony.

One of the highlights was the invitation for all married guests to participate in a renewal of vows. I’d never seen this done before. After the opening words, family friend Yma sang “Ave Maria, accompanied by our violin, viola and cello trio. The four of us had arranged to get to the church extra early for a rehearsal. I find that these pre-ceremony run-thoughs work well for almost every singer we work with.

At the end of the ceremony, a trolley shuttled guests from King’s Chapel to the Harvard Club at 1 Federal Street in Boston’s financial district. The club is on the 33rd floor and has amazing views of the city. Luckily, it was a beautiful day so you could see for miles in all directions. We played a variety of music for cocktail hour including classical, old jazz standards and popular songs.
