Last week our string quartet was hired to provide background music for an event at the Melmark New England School in Andover, Massachusetts.
The purpose of the event was to invite the Andover Chamber of Commerce to enjoy an evening of music, food, drink and learn about the school with a goal of creating a relationship with the rest of the town that will benefit everyone.
This isn’t just any school, it specializes in educating children with autism. I’d never heard of it and was delighted to find a modern building set in a lovely open site with woods behind it. My immediate thought was, “what a great place to be a student’”.
The string quartet was asked to play a variety of musical styles that fit the mood of the evening including light classical, tangos, waltzes, rags and old jazz standards. We had a great time.
Happy string quartet planning.
