Kathleen and Mike chose Holy Trinity church in West Harwich on Cape Cod for their Catholic wedding ceremony. It’s a beautiful, modern and airy structure, perfect for the feel they were going for.
The bridal party included the two mothers with escorts followed by six bridesmaids, each escorted by a groomsman. We played Canon in D for these entrances as well as the bride’s. It’s nice to have a pause in the music before the bride enters so everyone knows what’s coming next. That’s exactly what we did and it worked beautifully. All eyes were on Kathleen as soon as she entered.
The recessional was “Wedding March”, which we played with the organ. It made for a very grand ending to the ceremony. It was great working with Steve Grubiak, music director/cantor, again. Couples love him because he’s laid back and detail oriented at the same time.
We then drove to the reception venue, Wychmere Beach Club, ten minutes away in Harwich Port. It’s located on the harbor with great views of the ocean. We’ve played there many times and love working with Karen Rood, Wychmere’s event coordinator. Cocktail hour music included many old jazz standards with a few of Kathleen’s favorite Disney tunes thrown in at the end.
As I was packing up, I noticed that the guests had gone outside. Since it was only 55 degrees and windy, I was surprised anyone wanted to go out there. Of course, I had to check out what was happening and I’m so glad I did. I got a great picture of the bridal couple arriving on a sailboat. What a super way to start the party!!
Good luck with your wedding plans.
