Our string trio played for Laurie and Dennis’s wedding at the Liberty Hotel in Boston.
For those of you have never been there, it’s the former Charles Street jail (yes, the actual building.) While new buildings with guest rooms flank the old lockup, cocktail hour was on the fifth floor of what used to be the jail itself. The ceremony was held in the outside courtyard. It’s a pretty spot but very noisy with traffic from nearby Storrow Drive.
Laurie and Dennis had Heather Minicucci of Simply Inviting Weddings as their wedding planner. We love working with Heather because there are never any surprises on the day of the wedding. She makes sure we’re up to date on all last-minute changes. Justice of the Peace Tom Welch was the officiant. Michelle Poulin, Liberty’s catering and event manager, was very helpful as well.
Laurie wanted the Moms to walk to Schubert’s “Ave Maria”, the Maids to Bach “Air” and Pachelbel Canon for her own trip down the aisle. She was escorted by her grandfather and father. Danza Pasteral from “Spring” ─ The Four Seasons, was played after the first reading and Trumpet Voluntary was the recessional. Cocktail hour was a mix of light classical, tangos and popular songs.
