We recently had the pleasure of playing for a wedding ceremony and cocktail hour at the lovely Willowdale Estate in Topsfield.
Located in Bradley Palmer State Park, it’s surrounded by meadows and woods. Ceremonies are held on the outdoor patio in warm weather. There’s a very large room for cocktails with another patio connected to it. I think it’s a really nice set up. They also have valet parking, which is really nice for our ensemble. Along with our instruments, we always have lots of music and stands so it’s great to unload at the front door and hand the keys to a valet.
Did I mention that the ceremony patio is surrounded by beautiful flowers that grow all summer and into the fall? We’re going to be back there next week and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s blooming. It will be nice to again work with Caitlin Snyder. She’s the event coordinator who helps with cues, chairs, etc. It’s really nice to have a coordinator who has things ready for us when we arrive.
I spent quite a bit of time writing special arrangements for the instruments (two violins and cello) we’re playing at the October wedding. The bride will walk down the aisle to “La Vie En Rose”. “Here Come’s the Sun” is to be played after the 1st reading and “When You’re Smiling” after the 2nd. The recessional will be “Friday I’m In Love”. We really enjoy playing all of these tunes. I expect that everyone will get a kick out hearing them played on strings.
