Every time I return to Castle Hill on the Crane Estate, I wonder what it must have been like to grow up there.
It’s really spectacular and makes a beautiful and elegant wedding venue. Mary Ellen Colligan, the event coordinator, runs a “tight ship” and makes it really easy to perform there.
It rained, so Cathy and Brian ended up having their ceremony in the estate’s former dining room which probably sat 50 guests for dinner back in the day. Is it my imagination or has June become the rainiest month of the year? (June was a washout last year, too.) Of course, rain or shine, you still have views of the ocean and rolling green lawn, from every window if you’re having your wedding at Castle Hill.
Cathy chose “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and Pachelbel “Canon” for processionals. They left to the “Wedding March”. They requested old jazz standards and tangos for cocktail hour which was held on the other side of the house with access to the side yard (and more spectacular views.)
